Heat Transfer
Fundamental investigations for pre-calculation, design, construction and optimization of microstructures for highly efficient heat transfer are performed within the research group. Simple calculation methods based on fundamental physical-mathematical models are used for optimization of existing microstructure heat exchangers as well as for development of new microstructure designs and devices. The basic Navier-Stokes equations and an engineering approach based on those are used for a rapid pre-calculation and design. A more precise calculation of the designs using CFD methods can be obtained in co-operation with, i.e., the SIM research group of IMVT. Moreover, methods and sensors for thermal characterisation and in-situ measurement of thermal and fluiddynamical process parameters inside of microstructures are developed and tested.
